This is my first blog post. As such, I won't say too much. I've been known to ramble, so I'll try not to.
Well, I finally made it to PASIC. And what an experience it was. I just regret never having gone any sooner. I only made it this time because this is the first year I found out there was a way to go for free. The Logistics Team was a Godsend. It was so exciting getting to see these incredible musicians in person, as opposed to YouTube videos.
One of the coolest thing was that I got to meet Jared Falk, the founder of Drumeo. He is somehow an even nicer guy in person than he is in the Drumeo videos. Which is no small feat, because he is, of course, a remarkably nice guy in the Drumeo videos.
It was incredibly exciting to see all of the products not only on the expo floor, but also on stage. Marimba is my first love, and the night that was just legendary marimbists playing legendary marimba works, on the highest quality marimbas in the world... it was surreal. And boy, did it make me want one.
There have been times in my college career that I have felt like I don't really belong, that I don't do the things that "legit" percussionists ought to do. I don't put myself out there enough. But being at PASIC, I felt so at home. I can't wait to go back next year!
Thanks for reading, if you did. Happy drumming!
